RESEARCH ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

•From July to December 2002 research was conducted under the auspices of KEDE by a scientific team headed by Dr. Grigoris Lazos. The aim of the study was to document the scale of human trafficking and forced prostitution in Greece, as it existed in the second half of 2002. Findings and conclusions of the study reveal the magnitude of human trafficking in Greece at this time, examining factors such as populations of foreign adults and children prostituted by force, countries of origin, means of financial and sexual exploitation etc. This research project also provides an initial estimate as to what type of assistance a trafficked person might expect on the part of Governmental and non-Governmental agencies.
The results of the study will be published by KEDE and translations will be subsequently available in a variety of languages.

•In order to assess the effectiveness of the STOPNOW awareness campaign, a public opinion survey has been scheduled for the latter half of 2003. The aim of the survey will be to identify how Greek society currently perceives human trafficking.
The results of the survey will be published by KEDE.
