PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

A key activity of STOPNOW is the implementation and management of a public awareness campaign.
Research indicates that during the decade 1990-2000 approximately 1,700,000 men in Greece used trafficked women. This fact combined with widespread ignorance and misunderstanding (even among people in positions of authority) clearly reveals the need to inform and sensitize society as to the realities of human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Initially launched in June 2002, STOPNOW’s ongoing public awareness campaign includes the following:

Television social announcements
Radio social announcements
References in the Press
Information leaflet
Information material (lighters, pens, mouse pads, calendar)

In Greece today, there are approximately 20,000 women forced into the sex industry.
